Literature Text

A solitary leaf floating on the glassy lake
She gazes through me as through water
The tangled web of my deceit falls, shredded
And my shameful heart crumbles.

She gazes through me as through water
Deaf to my agonized apology
And my shameful heart crumbles
And she turns, silent, to leave.

Deaf to my agonized apology
I’ve turned her heart to stone
And she turns, silent, to leave
God help me, what have I done?

I’ve turned her heart to stone
A solitary leaf floating on the glassy lake
God help me, what have I done?
The tangled web of my deceit falls, shredded.
More creative writing class....seems like that's all the writing I have time for lately! This one is a pantoum (I think that's how you spell it), which is a very specific pattern where you have to re-use certain lines in certain places, thus the repetition. Enjoy!
